Question: Does Buddhism believe in one god or many deities?

The Master answered:

Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are "saints". Gautama Buddha was born in Nepal. He was a real person in human history and a perfect person who was filled with merits and wisdom. Both Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are enlightened sentient beings who teach all living beings to embark on the path to Buddhahood without discerning the status of each living being. Therefore, the Buddha should be consecrated, not deified.

True Buddhism is not about seeking protection and blessings from Buddha. A true Buddhist must devote himself to purifying his mind and learning Buddha’s wisdom, thinking and manner of communication and behaviour. The spirit of Buddhism is that everyone can become a Buddha, and everyone is kind in nature but temporarily blinded by mental afflictions and ignorance. If one has a giving attitude to serving others, everyone is now a living bodhisattva on earth.
