Someone asked, "Can an illiterate person become a Tzu Chi commissioner?"
The Master answered:
It is okay to be illiterate. What matters more is to understand the morals and principles of life.
Some people are sensible but do not know how to handle interpersonal relationships. These people are eloquent when it comes to reasoning but often enter into arguments or conflicts with others. Grandma knows how to carry herself and how to handle matters. She knows how to get along with people, so things will go our way as people are more willing to take in what we say. A person who can achieve harmony in dealing with people, matters and principles is the wisest.
