From Battling Illness to Bringing Comfort to Those in Need Abroad
A large-scale medical outreach is never the work of one person. It takes many hands working together. More than 300 Tzu Chi International Medical Association (TIMA) medical professionals and Tzu Chi volunteers came together in rural Sri Lanka to provide free medical care. Among them was Lim Kim Sing. Though he appears fit and healthy, he is a former blood cancer patient who underwent two bone marrow transplants. Having come close to death several times, he has gained a deeper understanding of the meaning of life. Fellow volunteer Chua Wee Peng, a colorectal cancer survivor, has also faced his own brush with death. Knowing that life is finite, he is even more determined to make the most of every opportunity to help others.
