Online Charity Fair spreads kindness over the Lunar New Year

The Tzu Chi Festive Charity Fair in Singapore has been held for more than ten years. The scenes of the lively annual event are no longer in sight since it was switched online in 2021 due to the pandemic. Although there was no public sale of coupons again this year as coupons were only sold to volunteers’ family members, relatives and friends, the response was still very promising compared to pre-pandemic times. Unlike previous years, long-standing sponsors had also personally packed the goods this year. One entrepreneur even provided his warehouse space for this activity. Volunteers looked at each order with a great amount of care when packing the goods. Although there were minor obstacles and unexpected challenges in the process, the coordination team and volunteers patiently overcame each hurdle in unity to give their sincerest blessings to the supporters.

The crowded, joyful and lively annual physical Festive Charity Fair has not been seen since it switched to online mode in 2021. The form of the event may be different, but the enthusiasm for gathering good thoughts and celebrating the new year has not diminished. Through the lens, let’s take a look at the details behind the online charity fair.

Charity Fair Coordinator, Roy Kee:Different merchants and sponsors have different delivery dates, so it is a little more difficult to move the goods here and there. Luckily, Sing Long's boss (lent) us his warehouse to do the preparation.

Tzu Chi volunteer See Siew Hoon:When packing, you can't just throw the things in. Everything (needs to be) lined up beautifully. And when the receiver opens it, they will find a greeting card and their orders tidily packed.

  1. Base on the order list
  2. Find items according to the item code
  3. Collect all the items in the order list
  4. Check that all items are packed

Tzu Chi volunteer Yeok Geok Luan:There is a sense of satisfaction as we could still do it despite our age. I’m very grateful for that.

Geok Luan's sister Yeo Geok Kuan:I don't want to go home. If I can help to finish it, I will do it.

Tzu Chi volunteer Choy Sio Hoon:With a grateful heart, I also hope to bring this blessing to them.

Charity Fair Coordinator Roy Kee:We are all united at heart. What needs to be done should be done.

Tzu Chi volunteer See Siew Hoon:Only by gathering everyone's love can we carry out the charity fair successfully.

Tzu Chi volunteer :The delivery date is on the 16th. Is the delivery time between 2pm to 3 pm okay with you?

There are loads of love from the merchants, volunteers and supporters in every order. The volunteers may not be professionals in the area of packaging and logistics, but they paid attention to every detail and offer their sincerest blessings to all buyers.
