Close to 4,000 Peopled Gather for Interfaith Bathing Buddha Ceremony

Every day, the news is filled with reports of war, natural disasters, and man-made tragedies. If everyone chooses to do good and contribute in their own way, it can bring hope to those in need. Tzu Chi Merit Organization (Singapore) hopes that through the Buddha Bathing Ceremony, people will awaken the innate kindness within their hearts and put it into practice in their daily lives. President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and representatives from the nine major religions under the Inter-Religious Organisation, Singapore (IRO) were also in attendance. Nearly 4,000 people gathered to pray for peace and harmony in the world, making it the largest Buddha Bathing Ceremony held since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Though fifty cents may seem small, when everyone contributes, even a little can grow into a force that changes lives. For the past 60 years, Tzu Chi has advocated the belief that “small contributions can lead to great acts of kindness,” with its humanitarian efforts now reaching 139 countries and regions worldwide. Approximately 4,000 people participated in Tzu Chi’s 60th Anniversary and Buddha Day Celebration event on Sunday, with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, representatives from nine major religions, and 93 monastics also in attendance.
