The unsurpassed, extremely profound, subtle and wondrous Dharma

Participants from 34 countries across five continents simultaneously linked up online with Kaohsiung Arena in Taiwan to take part in the Sutra Adaptation Performance. Tzu Chi Singapore performed five times across 3 consecutive days. A total of more than 1,100 volunteers and members of public sang along and performed sign language as part of the sutra adaptation.

Tzu Chi Volunteer, Seow Eng Teck: I really cherish it. If I don’t participate this time, I don’t know when I will have the opportunity again, (so) I must seize it. Because I want to have a deeper understanding of the Dharma and scriptures.

Member of public, Toh Cheng Wee: Life is not perfect, but Buddhism can really transform our lives for the better and let us feel that we can overcome suffering and find happiness.

Never begrudging anything, internal or external, their head, eyes, bone marrow and brain were all given to others

Weekends are the busiest days for the clinic. Lau Siew Yee, a TIMA (Tzu Chi International Medical Association) doctor, resolutely arranged time for the Sutra Adaptation Performance, just to fulfil a wish in her heart.

Tzu Chi Volunteer, Lau Siew Yee: My younger brother passed away three months ago. He was supposed to participate in the Sutra Adaptation Performance. It was he who brought me into Tzu Chi. So, when I take part this time, I told myself that I must keep him in my heart so that we take part in the performance together. We come to Vulture’s Peak and listen to the Dharma.

Tzu Chi volunteer Tan Eng Ai, who once left Tzu Chi but later returned to the team, not only participated in the performance this time but also actively took on the role of teaching.

Tzu Chi Volunteer, Tan Eng Ai: I missed the Water Repentance Sutra Adaptation previously. This time I have to grasp the chance, strengthen my vow and walk the Bodhisattva path of Tzu Chi. As disciples of Master Cheng Yen, we must do what Master asks of us and pass on the Dharma through our performance.

As great master boatmen, they carry all living beings across the river of cyclic existence to the shore of Nirvana
