Free Clinic in Sri Lanka Reaches 4,300 Residents with Global Medical-Volunteer Support
About 160 TIMA members and Tzu Chi volunteers from Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan returned to Sri Lanka after a year to join local volunteers and doctors in holding a medical mission. This year’s clinic took place at the Divisional Hospital in Bingiriya, Kurunegala District. Most residents in this region are farmers with low incomes and limited access to healthcare. To address their needs, the mission provided services in general medicine, dentistry, ophthalmology, and traditional Chinese medicine.
Despite the sweltering heat, the large number of patients, and long waiting times, residents expressed heartfelt gratitude for the relief they received. Many held the hands of volunteers and doctors tightly before leaving, offering their sincere thanks. Over the three-day mission, nearly 4,300 people benefited from the services provided.
