Caring for Our Environment, Caring for Our Homeland

In order to raise the awareness of youths about the environmental hygiene of their homeland, the Nepalese Tzu Ching conducted a street cleaning activity to do their part for a beautiful home. While carrying out the activity, it piqued the curiousity of passers-by, with some even joining in to clear up the garbage.

Journalist, Chong Yu Jia: We are now on the street outside the Lumbini Garden in Nepal. Looking around, we can see a lot of garbage on the road, because there is no system or way to deal with this garbage problem.

On this day, early in the morning, Lumbini's Tzu Ching and volunteers carried out street cleaning together.

Tzu Ching Nepal, Sabita Gupta: We picked up plastic, tobacco, glass and many other things. If our surroundings are dirty, it can affect us, that’s why we maintain cleanliness.

Senior Tzu Ching from Singapore, Tan Qin Ye: Plogging is a very simple activity, everyone around actually passes by many garbage piles on a regular basis. It's a simple activity that helps them pay attention to the environment around them and allows them to do their part for their environment.

On the street, the sight of volunteers bending down to pick up garbage drew curious looks from passersby, some even stepped forward to participate.

Tzu Ching Nepal, Sunil: I am very happy with today’s activity because I picked up the garbage and kept the environment clean. I also saw other people who were influenced to do so, Lumbini is an international area and locals can also do it.

This simple act also raises the awareness of youths about the environment in their homeland.

Tzu Ching Nepal, Rabina: It’s our pleasure and responsibility, previously didn't know how to do at all, but after joining today, we did it, this is really our responsibility, can help the people, and our environment 

Youths are starting to pay attention to environmental issues, and the future of a beautiful homeland is just around the corner.
