Care Recipients Rejoice at Chance to Participate in Buddha Bathing Ceremony from Home
On Buddha Day in 2022, Tzu Chi Singapore volunteers not only celebrated the three festivals of Buddha Day, Mother’s Day and Tzu Chi Day at Jing Si Hall, they also brought the Buddha statues to the care recipients’ homes, allowing the care recipients, who otherwise find it inconvenient to go out, to have the opportunity to receive Buddha's blessings and share the Dharma joy. Through simple and elegant decorations, and volunteers helping to neatly line up the offerings, the whole ceremony was small but yet kept solemn.
Follow the chant and enjoy Buddha bathing in the company of volunteers. This is the fourth year that 82-year-old Tan Kim Kai has participated.
Amid a backdrop of simple and elegant decorations, the volunteers respectfully pay their offerings, the ceremony might be small but it is still kept solemn. Tzu Chi volunteers bring the Buddha statue to their homes, allowing caregivers who find it inconvenient to go out to have the opportunity to receive Buddha's blessings.
Tan Siew Hua, Care recipient’s daughter: I'm very happy that I can meet Buddha, I think it's a very happy occasion//You guys still came here to prepare, the decorations are so beautiful, I can tell that my parents are very happy
Louis Lim, Tzu Chi volunteer: When you see the glow on their faces, you feel very happy. Even though it is for a short period of time, but I hope that it will bring them peace and calm and tranquility.
Volunteers also sent the Buddha statue to Loo Koi Heong’s house. Her daughter was paralysed due to a brain surgery and was also born with intellectual disability. She has to keep an eye on her daughter 24 hours a day.
Loo Koi Heong, Care recipient’s mother:Because we don’t have a maid, it is difficult for me to leave home, no one will be watching her. I’m feeling joyful as it is rare to have this opportunity in my home. It’s the first time, I am very happy and grateful.
Loo Siew Yan, Tzu Chi volunteer: She once told me that she was already under some pressure from taking care of her daughter,//I hope she can feel some positive support through this//I also wanted to encourage her to participate, she actually said okay and agreed right away.//I can feel the Dharma joy from her (today).
In line with Parents Month, volunteers also prepared flowers to give children the opportunity to express their love to their parents. This day of gratitude is precious.
