Tzu Chi’s Year End Blessing Ceremony Inspires Love and Goodness

Tzu Chi Singapore held 7 sessions of its Year End Blessing Ceremony for 2019 at the Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre over 2 days. The event, which saw more than 4,000 people in attendance, included a rousing drum and bell Dharma presentation, and 4 display areas featuring the history and Missions of  the NGO. Tzu Chi volunteers also encouraged visitors to join the ranks of volunteers to do good.

Rousing drum beat fills the hall of the Humanistic Youth Centre during Tzu Chi’s Year End Blessing Ceremony. Besides viewing the works of Tzu Chi over the past year, the audience witnessed compassion and Great Love on a video depicting Tzu Chi’s Missions worldwide.

Attendee, Teoh Bak Khoo: What touches me the most is Tzu Chi bringing care and aid to every corner of the world with compassion, regardless of race or religion. The volunteers always arrive promptly to render help to people in need.

Attendee, Khamsani B Karim: You do this without the purpose of any… You’re very sincere. It’s for humanitarian sake. I think that’s what that has impressed me so much.

The red packets of blessings and wisdom that are given to the audience carry Master Cheng Yen’s appreciation for volunteers and Tzu Chi’s supporters as well as her blessings and hopes for the new year.

Attendee, Tan Jennie: This is a treasure to me; it’s very precious, because this is a blessing from Master —to bless me to have a healthy body to cultivate and help others.

Besides the programme in the hall, there are also display areas which allow visitors to learn about how Tzu Chi established itself in Singapore over the last 26 years.

Event coordinator, Teo Seok Ching: We make use of real happenings in this world, and relate the happenings in Singapore to what Tzu Chi has done here. This will strike a chord with the visitors, and then, they will be able to devote themselves wholeheartedly.

Attendee, Ang Suan Choo: Singapore has people who live in suffering, too. We should not help others only when we are suffering ourselves, but rather offer help when we haven’t experienced suffering yet.

Attendee, Cheong Weng Kah: What you are doing is for the sake of people. I wish to join you and offer my help when needed.

Every glittering lamp in the dark is like a hope that lights up the world.

7 sessions of the ceremony, which were held over 2 days, attracted about 4,000 people. With combined good wishes and prayers for blessings for the world, everyone gratefully bid the past farewell and welcome the future with hope.
